Chair of the Lithuanian Parliament Loreta Grauziniene doubts whether the referendum on the ban of the sale of land to foreigners will be held in May together with the elections for Lithuanian president and the European Parliament

In an interview with the Lithuanian radio station Ziniu Radijas, Chair of the Parliament Grauziniene said that she doubts whether the referendum on the ban of the sale of land to foreigners will even be prepared by that time. And so, she went on, the fact must be considered that, if the referendum is carried out separately, it would cost about 14 million litas, while if the referendum is carried out in conjunction with an election, it would cost only approximately two million. She said that politicians will have to decide on a date, but that she hopes the most rational solution will be found. The Chair noted that the parliament would make a decision on the date of the referendum in early spring, when they meet for the March 10th session.
