Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius, having learned the results of the latest Euro-barometer survey, which showed a high level of corruption in Lithuania, said that law enforcement officers were to blame. Meanwhile, Leader of the National Alliance of Trade Unions of Officers Vladimir Banel says that one of the biggest problems is the lack of motivation for them. He explained that law enforcement personnel are not encouraged with wages or working conditions and their improvement. In addition, Mr. Banel said, honestly working officers themselves are often the victims of crime, but no one is in a hurry to help them.
