Order and Justice party leader Roland Paksas still will not be able to participate in the presidential and parliamentary elections. On Thursday, the Seimas decided not to vote on amendments to the Constitution, which would open up the possibility of Paksas for president.
Petras Gražulis asked to remove the issue from the agenda. He acknowledged that he made the request because of a lack of probable support for the amendments.
Wednesday's speech by the leader, broadcast by the country's main television channels, in which he publicly apologized for past mistakes, did not help him to regain his chances.
