Yesterday in Kiev the Leader of the Lithuanian Parliament participated in mass demonstrations for Ukraine's integration into Europe and claimed that Lithuania could become a bridge for Ukraine into the European Union.
Ms. Graužinienė’s initiative resulted in ambiguous opinions in Vilnius.
The founder of the Labor Party of Lithuania Viktoras Uspaskichas supports the Leader of the Parliament's visit to Ukraine.
According to him, Ms. Graužinienė’s initiative is to be appreciated, because she alone is working very hard to encourage Ukraine to sign the EU Association Agreement, as the President is not fulfilling her obligations in foreign policy.
However, experts and representatives of the opposition have looked at the Leader of the Parliament's visit as yet another attack on President Dalia Grybauskaitė and simply acting on her own volition, as it was not properly prepared and approved within the framework of Lithuania's Presidency of the EU.
There has not been such contradicitons in Lithuania’s foreign policy for a long time.
