Lithuania's Constitutional Court has accepted the request of the country's parliament to determine whether absconded member Neringa Venckiene's actions are unconstitutional

The parliament appealed to the Constitutional Court one month ago about the conclusion approved by the Interim Commission that there is a basis to begin impeachment proceedings against Ms. Venckiene. Upon the conclusion of the Court, this process will be continued. Its initiators believe that in failing to fulfill the duties of her office Neringa Venckienė grossly violated the Constitution and breached her oath of office. MP Neringa Venckienė disappeared without a trace last spring and since then no Lithuanian authorities have been able to ascertain where she is. The leading daily newspaper Lietuvos Rytas asserted that Ms. Venckienė could have been responsible for organizing more than one murder and is now in hiding.
