The Order and Justice party, which is part of the ruling coalition, is going to initiate a collection of signatures regarding a referendum on the introduction of Euro to Lithuania.
According to the daily Kauno diena (Eng. Kaunas Day), if 50 thousand signatures of Lithuanian citizens are collected, the Lithuanian Parliament, in accordance with Citizens' Legislative Initiative Law, will have to consider the possibility of organizing a referendum.
This Saturday during their meeting in Birštonas, representatives of the Order and Justice Party are going to adopt a the specific resolution and decide on a date for beginning the collection of signatures.
They are going to do this after party leader and member of the European Parliament Rolandas Paksas failed to receive approval from the coalition partners to hold a referendum on the introduction of Euro.
