Lithuanian Minister of Environment Valentinas Mazuronis argues that in introducing taxes on the extraction of natural resources there needs to be trade-off between the benefit to the state and the satisfaction of prospective investors with the taxation environment in the country.
Mr. Mazuronis explained that their desire is to make an investor-friendly environment. (...) but, on the other hand, the oil or gas is the property of Lithuania. He went on to say that Lithuania has to, as a country and as citizens, receive the most benefit. So, he went on, they will create compromises soon and prepare amendments to the law, moving the debate to the parliament.
