A survey conducted by Baltijos tyrimai (Eng. Baltic Surveys) has shown that a total of 20 per cent of people would like to leave Lithuania. “The number does not seem so great, but the problem arrises when looking at different age groups," Rasa Ališauskienė, Director General of Baltijos tyrimai said.
During the survey the following question was asked: if there were ideal conditions for people to behave as they wish, would you want to stay in thecountry, or would you want to move somewhere else? According to the survey, as many as 56 per cent of young people who are now 15 to 19 years old would leave Lithuania, and, in the age group from 20 to 29, forty per cent of those interviewed would like to leave their native country.
"Older people chose the option to leave less readily, but more than half of those who are under 30 would leave Lithuania. This is the main problem,” Rasa Ališauskienė explained during the program Dienos klausimas (Eng. Question of the Day).
