On Friday the 24th of October, at 12 pm, to commemorate Lithuanian Constitution Day, the Trade Union of Medical Professionals of Lithuania and the Trade Union of Medical Professionals of the public enterprise Greitosios medicinos pagalbos stotis (Eng. Ambulance Service Station) organized a protest by the premises of the Lithuanian Government in Vinco Kudirkos Square.  The stated goal of the protest  was to remind the Government about the provision in the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania that states “The Government Serves the People.”

A press release from the organizers of the protest stated, "Currently, the government has forgotten its obligation, perhaps blinded by the millions of Litas that were provided and wasted for the activity of the Emergency Response Centre (ERC). The government, ignoring the conclusions of an audit on the activity of the ERC carried out by the National Audit Office of Lithuania about wasted millions and possibly wanting to cover up those responsible for that, are holding all existing and future patients hostage by depriving them of the opportunity to get medical care from an emergency medical specialist without an intermediary --  an ERC dispatcher."

Further, the organizers intended to have ambulances surround Vinco Kudirkos Square and take ambulance service dispatchers’ calls to do their job directly from the square, as well as to present the Government with demands to dismiss Interior Minister Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas, who knowing about the current problems of the ERC, simply forgot about them. They also intend to call for the dismissal of Remigijus Baniulis, the Director of the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior, who is responsible for technical details and software necessary for the activity of the ERC and who they assert did not ensure targeted use of the funds. And finally they are calling for amendments to the ERC Law to reorganize the ERC into a civil call reception service and to introduce a single number for emergency services -- 113.
