A public appeal has been sent to the High Commissioner on National Minorities of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, European Parliament President Martin Shulz, and European Commission President José Manuel Barroso. It states that the situation, in which there is a violation of fundamental human rights and ethnic minority rights in a NATO and EU country, is reprehensible and unacceptable. It also asserts that Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskaite publicly deceived the international community and European Parliament members, saying that no report from any international organization mentions that Lithuania violates the rights of ethnic minorities.
