Mayor of Vilnius Artūras Zuokas suspects that the President's support for the Finnish company Fortum's plans to build three garbage incineration companies in Lithuania is pure corruption. Supposedly, it has been revealed that they are planning to burn much more garbage than Lithuanians produce. The media has reported that one of the companies is already operating in Klaipeda and is already short on material to burn.
The capital’s Mayor thinks that in a normal society such actions would be called elementary corruption and would be investigated by the Special Investigation Service (SIS) or the Prosecution Service.
Meanwhile officials from the Klaipėda SIS Board, as if they have heard Mr. Zuokas’ comments, within the framework of a pre-trial investigation conducted several searches and seizure of documents in several companies in the waste management business in the city of Klaipėda, and the districts of Klaipėda and Plungė.
So, where is the garbage?
