Ms. Stancikienė sent a letter to the CEC that accuses its Chairman and members of ignoring the will of the people and violating the Lithuanian constitution in dealing with the referendum on the ban of sale of Lithuanian land to foreigners. According to the parliamentarian, such an approach is making the country’s situation more and more similar to the Ukrainian political crisis. The CEC considers Aurelija Stančikienė's step as pressure, but she herself believes it is only an attempt to draw attention to the fact that a large part of the commission’s members are biased. Order and Justice party leader and impeached former president Roland Paksas has recently also expressed support for the referendum initiators.
