Member of Parliament Arvydas Anušauskas is proposing to change the State and Service Secrets Act to prohibit classifying information at a higher level of secrecy when the content corresponds to a lower level secrecy criteria. According to him, the current law does not establish how top state officials, after receiving information from intelligence about threats to the state, can and must warn the public with the goal of prevention. Mr. Anušauskas said that, as a result, preventive warning of the public after state officials receive this kind of classified information is restricted.
