After the Lithuanian parliament approved the bill for the adoption of the euro, Finance Minister Rimantas Šadžius assured everyone that the state would make sure that prices do not raise unduly after the introduction of the euro. He explained that all countries experience an increase in the price of certain goods with the introduction of the euro, but that the goods and services whose prices increase represent a very small part of what people spend.
According to him, the greatest share of costs are utility bills, which he asserts will be converted from Lithuanian litas at an accuracy of a tenth of a euro cent and will be checked to see if they are set reasonably.
