President Grybauskaite said that in order for Lithuania to remain a nuclear energy country, a decision by not only the ruling party but by all political forces will be needed, because it is a strategic issue. The president told the magazine IQ that, at the moment, this is not happening and the country is just implementing ongoing projects. Meanwhile, the president told French television that the question of the leaders of the EU (the Lithuanian President has been mentioned among the candidates for leadership) are likely to be dealt with after the elections in May, and so far no one has addressed this issue with her.
The president only forgot to mention that if the country wants to become a nuclear power nation once again, then a new referendum needs to be held on this issue. More than a year ago the citizens of Lithuania voted against the construction of a new nuclear power plant in the country.
