Nationalist Union President and coordinator of the citizens initiative group for the referendum on the ban of the sale of land to foreigners Julius Panka stated that the lacking signatures for the referendum have been collected. He asserted that, at this time, the checked forms are being intensively returned and according to their calculations they have already exceeded the 300 thousand required signatures, though he was still unwilling to reveal the exact number.
After Lithuania's Constitutional Court made clear that the referendum on the prohibition of the sale of land to foreigners would be contrary to the Constitution, Central Electoral Commission member Jonas Udris suggested a halt to the citizens' initiative on the organization of the referendum. This will come to a vote on Wednesday the 29th, which is the same day as the deadline for the group to collect the missing corrected signatures.
