In the President's opinion, the minimum monthly wage must rise with respect to economic growth rates so as not to affect small and medium-sized businesses. In response to concerns that the adoption of the euro may raise prices, the President pointed out that prices rose very slightly in Latvia. She also noted that with economic recovery minimum pensions must be slowly increased, not to mention the process of returning debt to pensioners. At the same time, Dalia Grybauskaite warns that the biggest challenges for Lithuania this year are pre-election populism and possible political pressure from neighbors.
However, critics say that the real chaos, anxiety and fear is being spread by the President's office and subordinate bodies themselves, as they wrote and leaked statements about invented threats to the state.
