The vote on constitutional amendments that would allow Mr. Paksas to run for president did not make it to the floor of the parliemant. However, Roland Paksas explained that the January 24th decision of Lithuania's Constitutional Court upholding the interpretation that European law supersedes Lithuanian law gives him the opportunity to already seek the post. Political analysts believe that the Order and Justice party leader wants to provoke another legal dispute to increase his and his party's popularity, particularly before the elections to the European Parliament.
