As explained by prosecutor Simonas Minkevičius, Russia received allegations about the former Lithuanian Ūkio bank manager as a person who is wanted in another country and being prosecuted in accordance with law for a criminal offense, who, under Russian law, is usually not granted citizenship of Russia. If Vladimir Romanov were to receive Russian citizenship, it would complicate the work of Lithuanian prosecutors, because Russia does not extradite its citizens. Meanwhile, the decision by a UK court to extradite Snoras’ former shareholders Raimondas Baranauskas and Vladimir Antonov to Lithuania was appealed last week.
