Head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Press and Information Division Major General Igor Konašenkov stated that the Iskander missile defense system deployed in the Kaliningrad region of Russia bordering the Baltic Sea and surrounded by European Union territory, is an integral part of the country's Western Military District, which includes the Kaliningrad region, and its deployment is in compliance with any international agreements. However, the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defense is worried about the militarization of neighboring sites and has consulted with allies on how to respond and how to defend from potential incidents.
