The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that in order to protect consumers and to prevent possible abuses in converting prices, the state will strengthen the power of institutions monitoring prices, as well as invite companies and their associations to sign a good business practice memorandum, in which businesses will pledge to honestly set prices and to not use the euro as a pretext for unnecessary increases in them. Whether this will work remains to be seen.
