Environment Minister Valentinas Mazuronis welcomes the decision of President Dalia Grybauskaite to veto the amendments to the Fisheries Act approved by the Lithuanian Parliament

Mr. Mazuronis said that he is pleased with the wise decision of the President. He went on to explain that the President and the Ministry listened to the arguments and opinions of recreational fishermen, and so the veto provides hope that the interests of the majority of Lithuanian residents will be protected and that the onset of positive developments in the field of water conservation will not stop. It should be noted that the rejected amendments had been called corruption by the Minister of the Environment.
