Lithuanian web portal alfa.lt is reporting that the secretly recorded and illegally released telephone conversations of Lithuanian ambassadors to Hungary—Renatas Juška—and Azerbaijan—Artūras Žurauskas—were available to no one else except the State Security Department. According to the web portal, Adviser to the Lithuanian President Jovita Pranevičiūtė-Neliupšienė shared the information with an unnamed high Foreign Ministry diplomat. It was also noted that, according to Lithuania’s parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs member Vitalijus Gailius it is precisely the SSD (specifically its head Gediminas Grina) who did not want to start a preliminary investigation of the illegal surveillance of the diplomats.
