Emergency situations will be called for in the Alytus, Druskininkai, Lazdijų, Varėnos, Šalčininkų and Trakai districts. As stated by Minister of Internal Affairs Dailis Barakauskas, all measures will be taken to ensure that the disease, which spreads quickly and has been found in herds of boars, will not spread to domestic pigs. African swine fever is a viral disease in domestic pigs and wild boar. It poses no threat to human health and life, according to National Food and Veterinary Risk Assessment Institute expert Eugenijus Jacevičius.
