In an anonymous online survey of more than 13,400 Internet users, respondents to the question "What is the most memorable event of 2013 for you?" said that they are interested most in events in the neighboring countries Latvia, Russia, and Ukraine, such as the collapse of the roof of the Maxima shopping center in Riga, the meteor falling in Chelyabinsk and Euromaidan in Kiev. Thirteen percent of respondents surveyed mentioned the death of famous people, while four percent voted for the election of the new Pope as the most memorable events of 2013.
