At the same time, accepting the credientials of the new Ambassador from Belarus Alexander Korol, the President noted that there is constructive bilateral economic cooperation, especially in transport and trade. The meeting also discussed an agreement on the facilitation of a border-crossing regime for residents of both countries living close to the borders. Lithuania has already completed all the necessary steps and is waiting for official confirmation of Belarus' readiness to apply this procedure. Commenting on the construction of the Astravets nuclear power station near the Lithuania border, President Grybauskaite once again mentioned the need to meet international safety standards.
